Fortunately, Qi Xi successfully hailed a taxi downstairs. As if foreshadowing the smooth sailing that was to follow, there was no traffic congestion, and half an hour later, Qi Xi appeared at the entrance of Gu Yan's residential complex. Gu Yan had long been waiting on the side.

The light rain had turned into a mix of snow pellets. A thin layer of snow had accumulated on Gu Yan's hat and coat. His fair face was flushed from the cold, and his eyelashes had tiny water droplets, trembling slightly as he blinked. Qi Xi saw his breath turn into a distinct white plume, slowly rising in the cold air.

She felt a pang of sympathy. "I told you it would take at least half an hour to get here. How long have you been waiting? It's not like I don't know where you live. I would have called you when I got to your building entrance."
