The National Girl is Three and a Half Years Old Chapters List

Chapter 5: Day 5 of Raising the Nation’s Little Darling

In the original novel "Dormant", the deposed little princess didn't have many scenes. The most challenging scene to film was the last one, where the siblings were pursued by enemies, and the little princess died in the arms of the male protagonist.

However, Gu Suisui wasn't filming that scene today but the scene where the little princess and the male protagonist were sent out of the palace by their emperor father and empress mother.

After spending half a month on set, the little cotton candy had fully adapted to life there. The crew had also taken a liking to the sweet-talking, even sweeter heart little girl, taking care of her in every way. Even Director Chen, known for his strictness during filming, was no exception.

From the 8 a.m. start to noon, Gu Suisui, had cried numerous times in front of the camera. Yet, the emotion wasn't quite right, leading to numerous NGs in a row.

Gu Suisui, thinking about how dirty and un-pretty she looked, cried with genuine emotion each time. Tears came easily, but Director Chen always felt something was missing.

"Alright, everyone's worked hard. Let's take a break." The overall filming was progressing faster than he expected. The repeated NGs didn't dampen Director Chen's mood. Instead, he comforted the actors on set in a gentle voice.

Gu Suisui had cried a lot that morning and now her eyes were red and puffy. Taking advantage of the break, Sun Hong came over to touch up her makeup. Seeing the little girl's dejected and listless expression, she comforted her while working, "Suisui, it's alright. We all know you're doing great. Don't pressure yourself too much."

Ahhhh! Mama is cheering for you crazily in her heart!!! ヽ(≧Д≦)ノ

If the occasion was not wrong, Sun Hong, a new mom-fan, would have loved to give her adorable girl a loving hug.

It wasn't just Sun Hong, the mom-fan, who thought so. Director Chen's strictness during filming was well-known in the industry. Suisui had cried so many times today without a single complaint, she was already very strong.

Sun Hong, having worked on other sets before, knew how challenging it was to direct children. Unlike mature adults, children this age don't understand anything and their emotions are inherently difficult to control.

Gu Suisui was indeed feeling a nameless grievance, but it wasn't the pressure that Sun Hong imagined. What upset her was her current appearance.

Wuwuwu... I look so ugly now, as black as a piece of coal qaq

To finish filming quickly and wash the dirt off her face, the little cotton candy found the most capable person on set, Director Uncle, to "humbly ask for guidance."

"Acting is about believing in the moment, you have to put yourself in that environment. That's how your performance becomes truly genuine." Director Chen is very optimistic about this little girl. He patiently broke down the scene and explained it to her in detail, afraid she might not understand.

Gu Suisui bit on the straw of her cartoon water bottle, "...put myself in?"

What if her on-screen emperor father and empress mother were replaced with Sister Peach Blossom and Sister Tree Demon...

When she thought of this possibility, Gu Suisui felt very sad. This kind of sadness was different from the one she felt about her appearance. She couldn't pinpoint the difference, but she knew her two sisters must not be in trouble!

Besides, her sisters were so powerful, how could anything happen to them?!

Though she knew it was just a hypothetical, the developed tear glands of the little cotton candy were already welling up. Large teardrops threatened to spill, deeply moving every adult who saw her.

"Suisui, you..." Director Chen watched in astonishment as the little girl, just moments after his explanation, had completely immersed herself in the emotion. "Yes, that's it! Keep this emotion when we start filming again."

Knowing this was an opportunity not to be missed, Director Chen immediately called for preparations and asked the lead actor, Lu Chi, to join her for the scene.

This time, Gu Suisui sailed through the scene, perfectly capturing the fear and reluctance.

However, the aftereffects of crying too realistically were a little severe. Even ten minutes after the director shouted "Cut!", her tears couldn't stop.

"Little Suisui, your eyes will be swollen if you keep crying like this." Lu Chi, still in his costume, patiently wiped the little girl's tears.

He understood the feeling of being immersed in a role. Even seasoned actors find it difficult to snap out of it sometimes, let alone a three-year-old child.

But Lu Chi, an only child in the family, had no experience in coaxing people and no idea how to comfort a crying child. He was so busy that he was in a mess, and in the end he failed to make the little girl happy.

"Sister Yingyu, you're here."

"Yes."

Fu Yingyu had one last scene to film for "Dormant" that evening.

She was heading to her private makeup room when she spotted a familiar figure.

Why is this little girl always crying whenever I see her...

Tsk, what a little crybaby.

Fu Yingyu raised her cold eyebrows slightly, and walked over. She pulled out a candy from her pocket and said indifferently, "Here, kid. Today's flavor is strawberry."

Before Gu Suisui could react, Lu Chi looked at Fu Yingyu in surprise. Fu Yingyu was the female lead. Having worked with her for over two months, he knew that this woman had never been a warm-hearted person, whether on the outside or on the inside.

Has the sun risen from the west today?
